Sleepy Day

This is a poem I made up when I go on those all-nighters that I'm not used to (seriously) and this what I do throughout my school day. Enjoy!

On the bus, head on seat.
In class, teacher calls you.
You wake up with forehead flat
You answer with monotony
"Root Two over C squared da da la la..."
Back to hand on face.
You're so beat,
Throughout the day,
Homework is just there.
Blank with no pencil lines.
Nap time please,
Where's the couch,
I need it.
There's the bed
Your day's done.

Masterpiece in Progress

Bboy dancer on the road to being a doctor. That's my idea for the masterpiece and it's a working progress. You're probably wondering "No way could he have time to dance while trying to be a doctor!?" Or "Too much work for one dude." It's no problem and all it takes is practice, studying, researching, reteaching, and being on top of most work possible. I know I'm not those years of being a college student, a medical school student, a residency student, and a helper of people, but I do stuff now that will affect my future studies then.

Over the summer, I spent my time shadowing doctors in a physician mentoring program at Marian Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (Dignity Health). I shadowed doctors who knew what they were doing and followed procedures to aid their patients for their troubles. I saw some pretty common entries between doctors and patients. I also saw some gruesome surgeries too! It was sickening to watch at the beginning, but you had to get used to the operations.To be a doctor, you had to be consistent and not freak out about the human body and what it produces. This was my inside look into achieving one of my goals, the other half of my masterpiece.

I also took the time learning new dance moves during summer (exploiting free time from summer homework and summer program). It all started from watching cool, explosive dance breaks from movies and videos that blew my mind and inspired me to try it. A few moments later, I was passioned to get the steps down. Lately, with all the school work in the way and college and scholarship applications always scratching me down, I haven't been doing much with dance. Bboy and the history of Hip Hop gets me going. What I do know now is that there are chances that can't be wasted and life can't be too simple to run past through without me being the one to realize it's true meaning.

My masterpiece is going to be without a doubt in production and having a passion for doing what I actually love and trying to do the very best to achieve greater, it makes people want to say "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Will Study For Food

The scholarship I am applying now is the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards. 

To participate in the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards you must be:

• A current high school senior 
• Planning to enroll in college in 2015-2016
• A citizen or permanent resident of the US
• Of Hispanic/Latino descent (at least one parent)
• Minimum 3.0 GPA ( on a 4.0 scale) or 7.5 (on a 10.0 scale)
• Willing to travel at own cost to the awards ceremony in your selected region. Regional ceremony attendance is absolutely mandatory for students who are selected.
• Graduating Spring 2015

I meet all these requirements and I hope to demonstrate my application process as a way to knowing the systems of applying to scholarships. I also want to participate in these events that this scholarship especially is withholding for selected applicants. My voice in this scholarship would mean a lot because my ethnicity as a Filipino is one of those lost, unspoken Hispanic heritages uncommon to the Spanish speaking culture. This scholarship redefines what we succeeded in our teen years and puts it into recognition of accomplishments. I need the money to pay for personal expenses, books, food, room and board, tuition, and many more things that need maintenance in the college life. Winners of the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards will award those with $1000 - $3000.

You have to go into your Youtube account at Youtube.com to find the embed code when you click the "Share" button, click on embed and copy the code (Hint: You can also change the size of the video it displays below the embed code). Paste it when you are posting the video in the HTML tab next to the compose tab (top left corner when posting a blog under the blogger icon) and then paste.

It makes it more bigger and attractive if you ask me.

UC majors and impacted majors

Impacted majors at the UC system take it seriously and you can't switch out of that major once you put it in your application unless you're pretty sure to take on rigorous course work and timing. You can only switch majors that are impacted in some UC's as far as I know if it's in relation to the College of Letters and Science.

Starting the month with new vocabulary, Yay!

accoutrements: noun personal clothing, accessories, etc.; the equipment, excluding weapons and clothing of a soldier

Ex. Bearings and accoutrements are what new players need to start out in the world of DayZ to fight zombies at the end of the apocalypse.

apogee - noun apoapsis in Earth orbit; the point in its orbit where a satellite is at the greatest distance from the Earth; a final climactic stage

Ex. Satellites hit their apogee when they are at their farthest point away from Earth in orbit.

apropos - adj. of an appropriate or pertinent nature; adv. by the way; at an opportune time

Ex. That one movie has to have that one guy who claps at an apropos time when a scene gets really intense.

bicker - noun a quarrel about petty points; verb argue over petty things

Ex. My brother and I bicker over the smallest things.

coalesce - verb fuse or cause to grow together; mix together different elements

Ex. You need soil and a seed to coalesce in order to make that lemon tree you always wanted.

contretemps - noun an awkward clash

Ex. During chemistry, contretemps always happen when the test tubes shatter because of inappropriate use.

convolution - noun the action of coiling or twisting or winding together; a convex fold or elevation in the surface of the brain; the shape of something rotating rapidly

Ex. The slinkie was in convolution because of the transverse waves it made.

cull - noun the person or thing that is rejected or set aside as inferior in quality; verb remove something that has been rejected; look for and gather

Ex. A victim of bullying is seen as cull from others who don't care for that person.

disparate - adj. including markedly dissimilar elements; fundamentally different or distinct in quality or kind

Ex. Silk is one of those disparate fabrics that differ from other clothing material in quality

dogmatic - adj. characterized by assertion of unproved or unprovable principles; relating to or involving dogma; of or pertaining to or characteristic of a doctrine or code of beliefs accepted as authoritative

Ex. Sometimes professors lecture students on dogmatic teachings not common today.

licentious - adj. lacking moral discipline; especially sexually unrestrained

Ex. Kids who don't listen usually are licentiously ignorant.

mete - noun a line that indicates a boundary

Ex. When I see a dug up line in the beach surrounding a sand castle, it's a mete that I shouldn't cross.

noxious - adj. injurious to physical or mental health

Ex. Noxious gas is harmful like those found when the stove gas is on such as carbon monoxide.

polemic - adj. of or involving dispute or controversy; noun a controversy (especially over a belief or dogma); a writer who argues in opposition to others (especially in theology)

Ex. Martin Luther was a polemic Christian who believed that church teachings were preaching the wrongful subjects of the Bible

populous - adj. densely populated

Ex. China and India are both populous countries.

probity - noun complete and confirmed integrity; having strong moral principles

Ex. A person with powerful speeches can withhold probity in the words of goodness.

repartee - noun adroitness and cleverness in reply

Ex. If you ever met Bill Gates, he'd probably answer your questions in repartee.

supervene - verb take place as an additional or unexpected development

Ex. It's not seen at all to have two lawyers supervene a court case defending one client at once.

truncate - adj. terminating abruptly by having or as if having an end or point cut off; verb make shorter as if by cutting off; approximate by ignoring all terms beyond a chosen one; replace a corner by a plane

Ex. When I'm in a mid-conversation, I seem to always get truncated by another person who wasn't in it.

unimpeachable - adj. beyond doubt or reproach; completely acceptable; not open to exception or reproach; free of guilt; not subject to blame
